Newfoundland acoustic fingerstyle guitarist Gordon Quinton specializes in original compositions and arrangements of traditional and contemporary folk music. Over the years, he has released nine guitar recordings and has contributed musically on several albums by other artists. During his long career, Gordon’s music has reached a worldwide audience through radio and television interviews and airplay. He has also performed music for national and regional films. His recordings have received excellent reviews in the publications Dirty Linen, Folker, Sing Out!, and Chitarre among many others. In 1997 and 2007, Gordon was awarded Instrumental Artist of the Year by the Music Industry Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (MusicNL) for his North Atlantic Dance and The Yellow Sky CDs respectively. He was also nominated for a 2007 Canadian Folk Music Award in the Instrumental-Solo category for The Yellow Sky. A Guitar’s Story, Gordon’s latest CD, was released in late 2012. For his work on this recording, Gordon received the 2013 Instrumental Artist/Group of the Year award from MusicNL.
